Found something with a scaniflost QR code?
Last updated
Thank you for picking it up. Scan the QR code with your phone camera and a page opens where you can tell the owner where you found it. Your message reaches them straight away. You don't need an app or an account, and you don't have to leave your name.
What to do
- 1Scan the code. Open your phone's camera and point it at the QR code. Tap the link that appears.
- 2Say where you found it. Write a short message: where you found it, and whether you'd rather hand it in somewhere or meet up.
- 3Keep the link. After you send it, you get a private link to the conversation. That's where the owner's reply will appear.
Your privacy
Your name and contact details are optional. Leave them out and you stay anonymous; the owner can still reply through your private link.
Sharing your approximate location is optional too. If you choose to, it helps the owner know where their things turned up.
If it's a pet
Please keep them safe if you can, and send a message: alerts for pets are sent to the owner as urgent. Some owners also add a phone number for finders to call. If they have, it's shown on the page.
If the page says something else
- “This tag isn't set up yet”: the owner hasn't finished setting it up. We've let them know it was scanned.
- “This tag is no longer active”: the owner has deactivated or replaced it, so a message can't reach them through scaniflost.
- If you can't message the owner, hand the item in to the venue, station or transport operator where you found it.
A note on safety
Nobody using scaniflost should ask you to pay anything or to click a link to return an item. Meet somewhere public if you hand it over in person.
